It’s been a pleasure to assist Masjid e Tauheed in Manor Park with a new website – https://masjidetauheed.org/
The Masjid has been in existence since 1972 and it was originally known as Madrassa Quwwatul Islam. It was one of the first of its kind in the Greater London area and strived to provide and promote Islamic Education to the Muslim Community, especially children residing in the locality.
The Madrassa originally started with one class of 30 or so children in a rented room within a local Christian Community centre, namely the Trinity Centre in East Avenue. They were compelled to rent further facilities within the same centre to meet the demand.
Alhamdulillah, in July 2000 the Masjid found a suitable building and was purchased for £1.07m at an Auction. This large sum of money was graciously supported through a tremendous response by our brothers/sisters by Qarz-e-Hassanah (interest free loan) and Lillah donations. In fact they received over £1.25m in one month.
This building consists of 21 rooms with an area of 297 sq metres. The prayer hall can accommodate 300 people for 5 times prayers. They currently get 700 people attending the Friday Jummah prayers and this number is increasing on a weekly basis as more and more people hear about the Mosque.
In November 2000, during Ramadan, they completed the renovation of this building and started performing the 5 times daily prayers in this building. The renovation work was undertaken by local brothers on feesabilillah basis, it included Electricians, Plumbers, Painters, Labourers etc.
The organisation is made up of the Muslim Community living in the East Ham, Manor Park & Forest Gate areas. It’s a registered charity and have an executive council of 10 members who oversee the daily running of the Madrassa and Masjid. They also ensure that own polices & values are adhered to.
